Ernestina Logbook Page

Date: Friday, June 9, 2000
Time: 0800 EDT

Schooner Ernestina has arrived at Danford's Marina in Port Jefferson, NY for sails with the Long Island Seaport Ecology Center by morning after an all night transit. Crew take a morning break before preparing for the evening sail. Sixteen boy scouts and fathers will arrive in late afternoon after a flight into LaGuardia Airport and a limosine ride out the Long Island Expressway.

You can see, in the image to the right, the final approach track of the ship toward the harbor and the ship at the dock in the inset. The tidal range in the harbor is 9 feet with low tides at 1213 today and 1314 tomorrow. The ship will only be able to sail at around mid-tide or better because of shallows in the inner harbor.
