Ernestina Logbook Page

Date: Saturday, July 1, 2000
Time: 2100 EDT

Ships to save the Waters Conference started today. Schooner Ernestina lays at dockside thanks to the generosity of Liberty Landing Marina and sponsorship of the Liberty State Park Development Corporation.

The New Bedford students are a great help setting up for the conference and giving tours of the ship. They met Pete Seeger today and learned about some of the organizations teaching about watersheds and estuaries.

The Park offers an incredible view of Manhattan just across the Hudson River.

Madame Francine Cousteau's keynote address was very inspiring this evening. The photo on the left is of Pete with Francine after her address. We will post the text of her speech on the StStW page soon.
