The students and teachers from West Side
High spent a very windy day with us on Buzzards
Bay! Today we had enough hands to raise the
mainsail, but the high winds made sailing with
the foresail and jumbo more practical. The
students and teachers rotated through six
teaching stations. Three of the stations were
learning about the ship, such as tools that we
use on board, how we navigate, how to steer the
ship and how to help on bow watch. The other
three stations had to do with the ocean we were
sailing on. We collected a plankton sample, took
salinity readings at different places and even
got to touch the tooth of a Great White Shark! Captain: Sophie Morse

We would like to thank Lotus and IBM
for donation of software, hardware and
funding to enable regular electronic updates
from the ship.
