At 2pm a
group of 35 students (age 3 to 13) accompanied by
their parents joined us at the Fan Pier in
Boston, were we embarked on an exciting trip. Salinity
samples were taken at different locations in
Boston Harbor; were recorded and compared.
Through a hands on lesson in navigation the
students could follow the course of the vessel.
Sharks are always a favorite subject for any age
group and a lesson in knot tying was taught and
put to use as the jumbo sail had to be secured to
the boom.
This great afternoon with a group of very
inquisitive students ended too soon. Thanks so
much to Kimm Sovie for pulling the trip together!
If anyone is interested in seeing the
Ernestina and her young crew turn on WGBH on June
17, 2002 at 7pm. Ernestina thanks Howard and
Jared from WGBH for the filming and all the
parents for their help and their involvement in
the youngsters education.
