Today was
the third day of programs with the Andrews Middle
School. An email came through later in the day
that we would like to pass along with thanks to
Laurie Wasserman and Kate Jesdale and others for
organizing the trips and making the extra effort
to afford them this opportunity. Laurie's email
follows: Dear
Ernestina Folks,
I am a
6th grade special needs teacher at the Andrews
Middle School in Medford. I have just
returned from our first trip aboard your amazing
vessel. We brought 58 students and 10
adults, including several parents, a computer
teacher and a member of our school
committee. I have been teaching for 23
years and have been on several "field
trips" with kids (Museum of Fine Arts,
Science Museum, North Shore Music Theatre to name
a few). Today's experience was by far the
best trip I have ever had with students!! Your
crew is a phenomenal group of
teachers/scientists/motivational leaders.
The ability to take a group of 11-13 year-old
kids the week before school gets out, on a
chilly, overcast day, and have them come together
in a very short time as one, to rig sails, learn
together, share together, was truly
amazing! I felt honored and priviledged to
be a part of your program.
My
deepest thanks and gratitude for a very special
experience!
