After a week of preparations and plans
for the move back to New Bedford, the ship got
under way this afternoon (Wednesday) at 4pm with
auxiliary pumps on deck just in case and an ecort
by Tug Jaguar. The
weather is great for the move with a very light
breeze and flat seas.
We have 80 miles to cover
tonight with our 14 crew aboard and expect to
make New Bedford by about 8 am.
The chart image to the right
pulled off just a short way into the passage,
shows our initial departure from Greenport on the
eastern end of Long Island around 5 pm.
Photos show the crew testing
all the auxiliary pumps before departure and
occasional transfers of crew to the tug to take
some photos of Ernestina as we cruised along.
Many thanks to all the folks
who gave us a hand.
