After an uneventful night of cruising
along at 5 kts. we arrived in New Bedford ahead
of schedule at 6:30 am, just after sunrise. Schooner Ernestina is at the dock at
Tonnessen Park on New Bedford State Pier. We
prepare for the haulout tomorrow. Pumps are
transfered back over to the Jaguar and we're
thankful to the press for giving us a way to get
the story out.
Many thanks to Charlie Mitchell
and the Tug Jaguar and Bob Mitchell of the R. A.
Mitchell Co. on Popes Island in New Bedford for
use of auxiliary pumps.
At 10:30 am Eddie Mathieu, who
runs the pilot boat in town, came by to dive on
the bottom and scribe marks using a gauge to
check for any movement of the keel as the ship is
hauled and comes to rest on the keel blocks on
the railway.
Crew are also busy pulling deck
boxes off and clearing the decks for the upcoming
work.
