Working
on the Water Program, 0900-1100 Dunbar
Elementary School, New Bedford
The Dunbar School brought 26 students onboard
for Working on the Water today. Following the
program, the students went back to school, while
crew resumed work on projects in progress. Right
after lunch, weve arranged a visit to the
Seamans Bethel, for new and old
crew alike to see that historic place and learn a
bit of its history and legend.
Mate Liz has been plugging away at a backlog
of chart corrections over the past three days;
today deckhand Kristen is apprenticing to this
project, learning and helping get the corrections
completed. Other maintenance and repair projects
are underway around the ship. Yesterday we
inventoried and made sure we had enough paper
plates and utensils onboard for the 65-person
troop of Boy Scouts coming onboard this weekend.
Though they are camping ashore overnight,
technically it will be our last overnight sail of
the season.
