We greeted 23 Scouts
and chaperones from Troop 651 Billerica at Fan Pier this
morning at 9am. After a safety briefing and orientation we got
underway setting the "four lowers" in Boston Harbor.
In calm wind and haze, we are motorsailing towards Cape Ann
and cooler temps. We're on the lookout for some wind!
We sailed out towards Cape Ann with the
Schooner Lettie G. Howard following. We saw a couple
Minke Whales off Newcombs Ledge and a basking shark. Lettie
went east For Rockland Maine, and we tacked back toward
Gloucester.
A US Navy Ship was entering the harbor ahead
of us and took over the SE harbor (security zone). We had to
make our own anchorage at the NW corner of the harbor and
dropped the hook and all sails but the Mainsail.
We had a quiet night at anchor. Program
