Portraits of a Port Teacher Institute
Three-day Program
Wednesday, July 9 through Friday, July 11, 2003

Day Three: July 11

Well, this has been a full day! After a tour on Marthas Vineyard yesterday, it's all aboard for New Bedford after breakfast today. You can see the track of the ship over the past three days above. Day one is in red, two in blue and the final day in green.

We set sail through Quicks Hole and across Buzzards Bay in light air. After anchoring in Apponagansett Bay, we put dories over so teachers could see the ship and waters from a different perspective.

We come back into the dock at Tonnessen Park on New Bedford State Pier for a wrap-up and closing discussion. Great trip and thanks to the New Bedford Whaling Museum for organizing it!

Program Coordinator: Rhonda Moniz & Polly Zajac
Captain: Gregg Swanzey

Judy Giusti leads a round of applause for a great trip.

Portraits of a Port VII participants gather for parting words.

Alan Morse begins a dory expedition with Kathleen, Emily, Donna, Joe, Pat and Alda.

We would like to thank Lotus and IBM for donation of software, hardware and funding to enable regular electronic updates from the ship.
