image shows the overall track from Boston, through the Cape Cod
Canal and on to New Bedford

The ship departed early
this morning in order to make the fair tide through the Cape
Cod Canal. With two cycles of the tide from high to low and
back, the adjustment between Cape Cod Bay on the one side and
Buzzards Bay on the other leads to some pretty strong
currents. Best to be with the tide!
