SPAGHETTI SUPPER BENEFITS SCHOONER ERNESTINA
April 24, 2004
Schooner Ernestina's Boy Scout Troop 11, under the leadership
of Don Ryle and Al Miner, hosted a spaghetti supper to benefit
Schooner Ernestina on Saturday, April 24th from 4-7
PM at the Masonic Building located on the corner of Union
and County Streets. "This
was a wonderful effort by the troop to put this together for
the Ernestina. We felt as though we needed to do something that would raise
funds for the ship and show community support for this
historic vessel," said Don Ryle, longtime leader of the
troop.
The boys
went to local grocery stores and restaurants asking for
donations to help support their mission.
Shaw's - Fairhaven, Stop & Shop on Dartmouth St.,
New Bedford, Sunbeam Bakery, and Panera Bread at the North
Dartmouth Mall all generously responded to their request.
Robert Duff of Duff Gallery also donated some prints of his
paintings of Schooner Ernestina that were part of a raffle.
"It been a great show of support from these
businesses." said Ryle.

Mr. Ryle was very happy with the efforts of the boys and was
grateful for all the help the parents of the scouts provided.
Between ticket sales and the raffle, over $1,600 was
raised!
The troop, which meets at the Acushnet Wesley United Methodist
Church is sponsored by the Schooner Ernestina Commission and
has over 20 scouts and 5 Eagle Scouts. We thank Troop 11 for all the effort and dedication to
Schooner Ernestina!
